AY 2023 Family Meeting

In November 2023, the Employment Team for Persons with Disabilities of the Human Resources Division, Department of General Affairs, the University of Osaka, held its very first family meeting. Family members of the staff with disabilities were invited to the campuses where the teams are located (Suita, Toyonaka, and Minoh) as an opportunity to see the staff in action and to exchange opinions.

It was a valuable meeting, with all the participating families (approximately 40 people) commenting that they were satisfied with the event and that they would like this type of event to be held in the future.

Many of the staff commented:

• I was nervous but was happy that my family members had the chance to observe me at work.
• I was happy to receive compliments on my efficient work when I got home.

Many of the participating families commented:

• I felt relieved to see how they usually are at work, which was not so clear from what they were telling us.
• I felt that it was a safe environment to work in, as the assistant staff were giving the workers enough support during the work.

We plan to hold the family meetings on a regular basis (once a year) with more programs to come. Considering the feedback seriously, we continuously strive to improve the work environment so that our staff can flourish even more.
