Advanced Program in Liberal Arts and Sciences (offered as Advanced Liberal Arts Education since 2019!)

The Advanced Program in Liberal Arts and Sciences has been offered as Advanced Liberal Arts Education since the 2019-2020 academic year.

Note: The following information is intended for students who entered Osaka University in 2018 or earlier. For information regarding Advanced Liberal Arts Education for those who entered in 2019 and later, please check information provided by your school/graduate school.

Osaka University has offered the Advanced Program in Liberal Arts and Sciences for 3rd- and 4th-year undergraduate students as well as graduate students since April 2011. This program aims to broaden education of students who have attained a certain level of specialized professional knowledge and who plan to be entering the real world.

Osaka University developed the Advanced Program in Liberal Arts and Sciences into  "Advanced Liberal Arts Education" and introduced it as a new program in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Advanced Liberal Arts Education aims to cultivate (1) multifaceted and comprehensive viewpoints, which can be acquired from learning outside professional education and (2) high-level capability to solve real-life problems through use of the advanced expert knowledge and skills acquired in specialized education. Students can take a variety of courses offered at Osaka University.

As a rule, students who took courses of departments outside of their graduate school/school can get credit for those courses. The credits are recognized as credits of Advanced Liberal Arts Education and are listed on their transcripts.
