Self-inspection and Assessment (#3)

Osaka University performed its third self-inspection and assessment according to its Policies for Internal Quality Assurance in Education and Guidelines for Educational Assessment for Internal Quality Assurance in Education.

In its third self-inspection and assessment for the 2021-22 academic year, the university examined the current states of its degree programs, undergraduate and graduate schools, and the university as a whole in order to understand the implementation status of education based on education policies as well as academic achievements of students.

The university conducted self-assessment for these results, discussing how to respond to challenges that emerged during the inspection.

Their self-inspection and assessment showed positive results due to excellent educational efforts by undergraduate and graduate schools, such as the improvement of academic major systems and student support systems.

During the 2021-22 academic year, based on experience during the previous 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic, and taking the education system during and following the pandemic into consideration, most of our schools and graduate schools shifted from total online classes to a hybrid or HyFlex ("hybrid flex") approach, an efficient combination of face-to-face lecture and remote leaning components. These schools gradually increased the proportion of in-person lectures, while keeping a watchful eye on the status of the pandemic.

Characteristic approaches of these schools and their results were shared with undergraduate and graduate schools at the Curriculum Committee meeting held in October 2022.
