Self-inspection and Assessment (#2)

Osaka University performed its second self-inspection and assessment according to its Policies for Internal Quality Assurance in Education and Guidelines for Educational Assessment for Internal Quality Assurance in Education.

In its second self-inspection and assessment for the 2020-21 academic year, the university examined the current states of its degree programs, undergraduate and graduate schools, and the university as a whole in order to understand the implementation status of education based on education policies as well as academic achievements of students.

The university conducted self-assessment for these results, discussing how to respond to challenges that emerged during the inspection.

Their self-inspection and assessment showed positive results due to excellent educational efforts by undergraduate and graduate schools, such as the improvement of academic major systems and student support systems.

During the spring and summer terms of 2020, due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, online classes were held university-wide. However, the inspection showed that students’ academic achievement was largely unaffected due to support for ensuring the quality of online education by the Center for Education in Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Cybermedia Center (such as through faculty development programs for online instruction and preparation of self-learning manuals) as well as efforts taken by undergraduate and graduate schools.

The achievements and challenges revealed during this inspection were shared with undergraduate and graduate schools at the Curriculum Committee meeting held in October 2021.
