Double-Wing Academic Architecture

What is Double-Wing Academic Architecture?

Osaka University is pushing forward its education system for graduate schools, Double-Wing Academic Architecture (DWAA), university-wide in order to produce PhD holders that can play an active role both in creating innovation in academics and other fields.

DWAA is arranged in three knowledge activities: Deepening of Knowledge, Fusion of Knowledge, and Integration of Knowledge with Society. In DWAA, in addition to traditional graduate school education, which is aimed at developing expertise, education expanded in two directions is provided based on acquisition of the core area of expertise.

Previously, Osaka University had offered a variety of education programs in the directions of “Integrating Knowledge” and “Linking Knowledge and Society,” but these programs have been reorganized as the “Intellectual Gymnastics Program” so that students can flexibly choose courses by themselves.
