Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation (SPRING)

Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation (SPRING), started by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) in 2021-22, is a program that supports challenging and interdisciplinary research projects by doctoral students and provides career development training to enhance their abilities as researchers so that they will be able to be active in various fields.

The University of Osaka’s project “Developing Next-Generation Researchers who Devote Themselves to Challenging Research Projects” was selected for SPRING. The program aims to develop PhD holders who can proceed with their own research using their outstanding research ability while flexibly responding to an everchanging society to create the society of the future.
