UOsaka Family 2025 Online Social Gathering

On January 29 and 31, 2026, UOsaka held the University of Osaka Family 2025 Online Social Gathering.

The event, now in its sixth year, aims to provide an online space for members of the UOsaka Family - including alumni, graduates, faculty, and staff— to connect and deepen relationships. Approximately 90 participants joined the event, including attendees both across Japan and overseas.

Following a video message from President KUMANOGOH Atsushi, participants were divided into two groups for the first and second sessions. They engaged in discussions on themes such as business, hobbies, and campus memories.

Participants shared comments such as:

  • "I really enjoyed chatting freely.”
  • "It was inspiring to connect with individuals from a wide range of generations."
  • " I truly felt a sense of family!"

Even after the program concluded, many participants continued to enjoy informal conversations in the online venue.

The University of Osaka will continue to hold various events to strengthen connections among members of the UOsaka Family. We look forward to your continued participation!

Osaka University Family 2024 Online Social Gathering

OU held the Osaka University Family 2024 Online Social Gathering on November 16, 17, 20, and 21, 2024.

Previously, only alumni were allowed to participate in this event, but this year, in order to connect even more members of the OU Family, current students as well as faculty and staff members were allowed to attend, with a total of 108 individuals participating from all around the world.

Following a video message from President NISHIO Shojiro, in the first half of the gathering, participants broke into groups of 3-5 individuals to discuss specific topics (business, hobbies, and campus memories), and in the second half, free discussions were held among participants of all years and schools.

Participants had the following to say about the event:

  • "I'm glad I was able to chat with individuals from different years."
  • "It was nice to be able to interact with individuals from completely different fields."
  • "The gathering was over before I knew it. I want to participate next time too!"

We plan on holding this event in the years to come, so those who weren't able to participate or those who simply wanted more are encouraged to bring anyone else interested and join us.

In addition, in response to those participants who want to converse even more in an online space, we plan to provide a space for members of the OU Family to converse any time they wish. More details will be featured in the alumni mail magazine, so please look forward to it!

After viewing a video message from President NISHIO Shojiro, the first half of the gathering had participants break up into groups of 3~6 individuals to discuss topics like business, family, hobbies, and their alma mater.

In the second half of the event, participants freely explored the virtual venue to discuss various topics with OU alumni across generations. They also enjoyed watching videos that took them on a trip down memory lane at OU.

Participants had the following to say about the event:

  • “It was refreshing to talk with alumni from different generations.”
  • “I had an enjoyable and stimulating time talking with different people from various walks of life and backgrounds.”
  • “Talking with previous generations of alumni from my school was very meaningful."

Thank you for joining us. We hope to see many of you participate next year as well!

Osaka University Family 2022 Online Social Gathering

The Osaka University Family 2022 Online Social Gathering was held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, with individual sessions held by graduation year. 55 graduates from Class of 2002-03, Class of 2012-13, and Class of 2017-18 attended these sessions.

These online sessions were held in order to deepen OU family bonds even during the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s social gathering marked the third iteration of the event.

In the first half of the gathering, in three different generation groups, chaired by a graduate facilitator, participants talked about business, family, and hobbies. In the second half of the gathering, they talked about various topics beyond generations.

Participants remarked on the gathering, saying “I talked with people in my generation in a different industry and different type of job. It was stimulating...” and “Recently I gave birth to a baby, so it was lucky to hear from those in the same situation and those who graduated ahead of me and raised kids about their parenting and future career.”

We plan to hold the event next year as well. Please feel free to join us.
