MEXT commissions OU to carry out the Project for Co-creating Knowledge in Humanities and Social Sciences

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has commissioned Osaka University to carry out its "Project for Co-creating Knowledge in Humanities and Social Sciences." OU is the only university to be selected for this project.

This project aims to systematize a process to ascertain current and potential social challenges and discuss how knowledge in the academic fields of humanities and social sciences can be utilized for working out a vision for a future society.

This project will be carried out until the end of the 2022-2023 academic year.

OU has engaged in research that has a positive impact on the world under the concept of “ Facing Societal Challenges: The Value of Life .” Moreover, in the era of COVID-19, people have come to more deeply consider both life and quality of life. Thus, OU has positioned this project in the process to realize a society that cherishes life in the year 2050.

Life is precious and carries a deep relationship with humanities and social sciences, the academic disciplines which examine human society and social relationships.

Under the leadership of its think tank, Social Solution Initiative (SSI), Osaka University will engage in this project using “life” as the key to co-create new knowledge through communication with a wide range of stakeholders in Japan and abroad.
