Applications being accepted for International Joint Research Promotion Programs -- 2015~16 Programs and 2015~16 Short-term support for personnel expenses
As a measure for promoting academic initiatives in 2013, Osaka University established the International Joint Research Promotion Program . In order to further enhance research quality and promote globalization of Osaka University, Osaka University supports advanced research between international researchers and Osaka University researchers.
Currently, OU is seeking the following to be conducted under this program:
- 2015~16 (International Joint Research Promotion Program) Programs (Application deadline: Monday, February 2, 2015)
- 2015~16 Short-term support for personnel expenses (Application deadline: Part 1: Monday, January 19, 2015; Part 2: Tuesday, June 30, 2015)
Support in these two areas plays a major role in promoting globalization at OU. We look forward to your applications.
2015 International Joint Research Promotion Program
As a measure for promoting its
academic initiatives in 2013, Osaka University established the
International
Joint Research Promotion Program
. The university selected 15 programs in 2013 and 7 in 2014. Currently, 22 programs are being conducted.
In the International Joint
Research Promotion Program, Osaka University provides the projects
selected with funding to assist in hiring research personnel and also
for covering travel expenses of young researchers in coming to the
project lab at OU so that, even when the invited international
researcher is out of Japan, joint research can continue. Osaka University
provides the projects selected with travel support and an honorarium
for the international researcher, travel expenses for OU faculty
members, and support for employing additional researcher(s).

2015 Support for Short-term Labor Costs
In order to further promote international joint research, this program supplies support for the costs of inviting outstanding international researchers to OU. Currently, OU is seeking projects to be conducted under this program. This program will not only promote further research, but also make possible seminars and lectures featuring the invited international researchers, thereby also greatly contributing to the globalization of education at OU. The university will support employment costs and round-trip transportation expenses for international researchers who will be involved in selected projects. In this program, in principle, international researchers will be employed under the cross-appointment system ; however, in some cases, they will be employed not under the cross-appointment system, but as full-time specially appointed faculty members.
