Regarding Osaka University's response to the state-of-emergency declaration
On 7 April, the government issued a state of emergency declaration for 7 prefectures, including Osaka Prefecture, under the amended Act on Special Measures for Pandemic Influenza and New Infectious Diseases Preparedness and Response (改正新型インフルエンザ等対策特別措置法).
Under this declaration and from a general request for self-restraint from the local government, Osaka University has decided to implement an adequate and flexible response to the situation by issuing the following levels (below) regarding campus life (beginning 8 April).
This decision has taken into account the maximum consideration for the preservation of education and research while also ensuring that the health and safety of our staff and students is our top priority.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Response levels:
1. Lectures/classes
Level 4 (Only online classes will be held.)
2. Academic staff/researcher activities
Level 3 (only the minimum number of researchers
required to conduct classes and continue ongoing experiments and research will
be permitted on campuses.)
3. Administrative staff
Level 3 (only the minimum number of staff required to maintain the status quo will be permitted on campuses.)
4. Meetings, etc.
Level 4 (meetings with more than 10 people will be held online [this number includes all in attendance].)
5. Students
Level 3 (undergraduate/graduate students are not permitted to come to any campus. However, this does not include graduate students with ongoing experiments or research.）
6. Extracurricular activities
Level 5 (all extracurricular activities are suspended until further notice)
