Notice regarding the new strain of coronavirus [eleventh notice]

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has temporarily raised their alert levels in response to the spread of the new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) in certain countries/regions. While in the past we have released notices regarding our response to information regarding the virus, now we would like to ask everyone to review the alert levels listed on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website (in Japanese only) and/or the WHO website, your embassy/consulate, etc.

Additionally, with the release of this notice, the tenth notice issued on 2 March is considered invalid, and due to changes in "3. Travel overseas" and "4. For those who have returned from overseas," the seventh notice issued on 19 February will also be considered invalid. Our continuing response will be based on the information contained in this eleventh notice.

If travel becomes unavoidable, please check the latest information available at your destination before traveling and practice counter-measures against the spread of infection.

Notice regarding the new strain of coronavirus [twelfth notice]

An individual infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been discovered to have attended a concert in a live house in the city of Osaka and has been confirmed to have contacted an unspecified large number of people (please see the website below for details regarding the concert).

If you attended the same concert, please contact your nearest 帰国者 ( きこくしゃ ) ・ 接触者 ( せっしょくしゃ ) 相談 ( そうだん ) センター ("consultation center for people with potential exposure to COVID-19") as well as the faculty/school/graduate school/center, etc. you are affiliated with regardless whether or not you are showing any symptoms.

Additionally, please refrain from attending events with poor ventilation and/or where people crowd shoulder-to-shoulder.
