Minister TAKEMOTO Naokazu visits Osaka University

On Sunday, December 15, TAKEMOTO Naokazu (Information Technology Minister, Minister of State for "Cool Japan" Strategy, Intellectual Property Strategy, Science and Technology Policy, and Space Policy) and his entourage visited Osaka University.

During their tour of the Techno-Alliance Building, after receiving an explanation from President NISHIO Shojiro on the current state of industry-university collaboration at Osaka University and its endeavors in industry-university co-creation, the group was given an explanation on the institute as well as verification experiments performed at the university by Professor HARUMOTO Kaname of the Institute for Datability Science.

Following the demonstration of the remote control cameras placed on the Toyonaka campus grounds, an explanation and demonstration of symbiotic intelligent systems research was given by Professor ISHIGURO Hiroshi of the Graduate School of Engineering Science.

Next, the group toured the Center of Medical Innovation and Translational Research, where explanations and demonstrations were given by Professor NAKATA Ken (Graduate School of Medicine) on examples of data-driven research and Specially-Appointed Professor HIRATA Masayuki (Graduate School of Medicine) on implantable brain machine interfaces.

Afterwards, the group received an explanation regarding cutting-edge research performed at the Center for Information and Neural Networks by Director YANAGIDA Toshio.

Lively discussions and exchange of opinions could be seen at each stop on the Minister’s tour, making for a pleasant experience from start to finish as well as a valuable opportunity to get a look at the various activity performed daily at Osaka University.
