Japan–Australia University Dialogue 2019 held

The Japan-Australia University Dialogue is a symposium held every year based on a cooperate agreement concluded between The Japan Association of National Universities and Universities Australia as part of an exchange program, with this year’s Dialogue held at Osaka University.

Some 80 individuals were in attendance for the symposium, which was held on Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10, 2019, including Australian Ambassador to Japan Hon. Richard Court AC and his wife, along with related individuals from universities, government agencies, and corporations.

During the symposium, a keynote speech was held at the Co-Creative Innovation Building entitled “Osaka University’s Industry-university Collaboration Initiatives,” which introduced industry-university collaboration (industry-university co-creation) activity undertaken at OU.

Attendees shared advanced examples of their efforts in industry-university co-creation, while also exchanging opinions on challenges and the future potential of industry-university co-creation.

The next day, after listening to an introduction to industry-university collaboration in the Graduate School of Engineering at the Techno-Alliance Building, the group toured the Hitz Research Alliance Laboratory and the Daikin Research Alliance Laboratory in the building, exchanging opinions with related individuals.

Through the Japan-Australia University Dialogue, a number of efforts by universities and the industrial circles in Japan were introduced, allowing for active discussion among those in attendance.
