Osaka University North American Alumni Reunion and General Meeting held

The Osaka University North American Alumni Reunion and General Meeting was held at the David Brower Center in Berkeley, California on September 21, 2019. The Osaka University North American Center for Academic Initiatives moved to Berkeley in June of this year, so this location was selected to spread the word about the Center’s new location.

After greetings from OGAWA Nobuo (Chair, North American Alumni Association) and TAYA Masahito (Director, North American Alumni Association Office), the general meeting was held. Following that, Osaka University Executive Vice President of Global Engagement KAWAHARA Genta spoke about the current state of the university.

Later, MURAI Yuki, member of OU’s Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences who is currently working as a JSPS Superlative Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychology at UC Berkeley, delivered a lecture entitled “Scientifically Clarifying the Heart and Mind – Working Out the Mechanisms of the Mind through the Latest Approach es in Brain Science.”

46 alumni, their family members, former international students, and current students from the United States and Japan, primarily from the Bay Area, were in attendance at this Alumni Reunion. Attendees enjoyed the reunion’s annual quiz show and deepened friendships through souvenir exchange, ending the gathering on a light-hearted note.
