Results of investigation regarding specific research misconduct
Osaka University’s investigation committee announced Friday the results of its investigation into specific research misconduct by one of its faculty members.
Osaka University has established an investigative committee in accordance with articles 18 and 20 of the Regulations regarding the Promotion of Research Integrity at Osaka University. The results of their investigation into allegations of research misconduct have revealed specific research misconduct (fabrication, falsification) by a former Osaka University faculty member in his research activity.
These misdeeds damaged the public's trust in scientific research and caused significant trouble to those affected by earthquakes as well as related research institutes. The university deeply regrets this incident and apologizes to affected individuals.
Osaka University takes this incident very seriously and pledges to do its utmost in raising the awareness of faculty and staff members and preventing a recurrence of any such irregularities.
