Osaka University's "Doctoral Program to Develop Biomedical Science Professionals" selected for the 2018 MEXT Excellent Graduate School Program (TAKUETSU)

On October 3, 2018, Osaka University's "Doctoral Program to Develop Biomedical Science Professionals" was selected for 2018-2019 Excellent Graduate School Program (TAKUETSU) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

The Excellent Graduate School Program (TAKUETSU) aims to cultivate outstanding individuals with doctoral degrees who can take leading roles in various sectors and to create hubs for continuously promoting human resource development/exchange and joint research in order to promote reform in graduate schools as a whole.

Fifty-four projects were submitted from 38 national, public, and private universities, with 15 projects from 13 schools selected.

The program selected from Osaka University, under the leadership of Professor MORII Eiichi (Program Coordinator/Professor, Graduate School of Medicine), aims to develop biomedical science professionals who can give their research results back to society. The Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Frontier Biosciences, the Research Institute for Microbial Diseases, Immunology Frontier Research Center at Osaka University, Osaka University Hospital, and Osaka University Dental Hospital participate in this program with the cooperation of the National Institutes of Biomedical Innovation, Health and Nutrition, domestic and overseas pharmaceutical industries, major pharmaceutical companies, biotech ventures, Osaka Prefecture, PMDA, and the National Institute of Health Sciences. This program aims to cultivate outstanding doctoral human resources for promoting social implementation of research results in life science.

The program will run for a seven-year span from 2018-2019 until 2024-2025.
