On Friday, December 22, 2017, an award ceremony was held for the Osaka University Prize for Excellence in Education at Science Studio A, Science Commons, Toyonaka Campus.

The Osaka University Prize for Excellence Education was established in the 2016-17 academic year as a system to recognize students who earned outstanding grades in undergraduate liberal arts courses (general education), which is one of the primary  educational goals at Osaka University, at the Center for Education in Liberal Arts and Sciences (CELAS).

Those eligible for this award are 2nd year undergraduate students who obtained the number of credits required by their department (major) as general education requirements for graduation by the end of the summer term of their 2nd year (end of the winter term of their 1st year for those students in the School of Foreign Studies). (Eligible students in the International College are those 3rd year undergraduate students who obtained the number of credits required by their course as general education requirements for graduation by the summer term of their 2nd year.)

This year, 51 students received the award, which was presented by Director Sato of CELAS.
