University Exchange Agreement signed with the University of California, San Diego

On Friday, September 15, a University Exchange Agreement was signed between Osaka University and the University of California, San Diego (USA).

Exchange between Osaka University and the University of California, San Diego started with the Pragma Workshop in 2002, and since then, the bilateral relationship between the two universities has developed. In the 2015-2016 academic year, under the Pacific Rim International University (PRIUS) program, OU students participated in overseas internships, and a lecturer from the University of California conducted classes at Osaka University. In addition, the university signed school-to-school agreements with the Cybermedia Center and Graduate School of Information Science and Technology at Osaka University.
This time, in order to promote joint research in a wider range of fields, the two universities singed a university-university agreement.

At the signing ceremony, six individuals were in attendance from Osaka University, including President Shojiro NISHIO, Executive Vice President Genta KAWAHARA, Director Shinji SHIMOJO, Professor Haruo TAKEMURA, and Associate Professor Susumu DATE of the Cybermedia Center, and Dean Takao ONOE and Professor Hideo MATSUDA of the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, while Michelle L. Hermas, International Affairs Director at the University of California, San Diego, was also in attendance.
The ceremony was pleasant from start to finish, with both universities reaffirming the importance of further collaboration. It is expected that this agreement will promote mutual exchange in education and research between the two universities.
