Three Osaka University students receive awards at the 11th Indonesian Speech Contest

On Saturday, July 15, 2017, three Osaka University students received awards at the 11th Indonesian Speech Contest, including multiple grand prize winners.

The contest was held by Kanda University of International Studies with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Japan. Students from seven universities participated in this speech contest, the topic of which was "Japan, Indonesia, and My Future."

FURUTANI Kounosuke (2nd year, Indonesian language major, School of Foreign Studies) entered into Category A of the contest (university students in their first 2 years of Indonesian language study), and FUJIMORI Yuna (3rd year, Indonesian language major, School of Foreign Studies) entered Category B (university students in their first 4 years of Indonesian language study). Both students were highly praised for both the content and expressiveness in their speeches, earning them both the grand prize in their respective categories.

In addition, YOSHINO Maki (2nd year, Indonesian language major, School of Foreign Studies) was chosen to receive the Overall Grand Prize for the contest and, as a supplementary prize, was invited to the Independence Day Ceremony in Jakarta on August 17.
