Osaka University ASEAN Center 10th Anniversary Commemoration and Thailand Alumni Reunion held


  On Saturday, February 18, 74 alumni, faculty, staff, and family members participated in the Osaka University ASEAN Center 10th Anniversary Commemoration Event and Thailand Alumni Reunion at the Radison Blu Plaza Bangkok.

  After greetings from Itthichai Arungsrisangchai (Chair, Osaka University Thailand Alumni Association), SAKAMOTO Noriko (Vice Chair, Bangkok Chapter, Sakuyakai (Osaka University School of Foreign Studies/Osaka University of Foreign Studies Alumni Association)), and YAMANAKA Shinsuke (Executive Vice President, Osaka University), the title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow was awarded to two individuals. Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow was created as part of Osaka University's efforts to expand its global network, and is given to individuals who perform remarkable activity after their graduation or term of work at the university. Mr. Plew Trivisvavet (Chairman of Executive Board, CH Karnchang Public Company Limited) and Dr. Worawet Suwanrada (Professor and Dean, Faculty of Economics, Chulalongkorn University) were awarded this title by Executive Vice President YAMANAKA.

  In addition, ASEAN Center Director MOCHIZUKI Taro held a commemorative presentation for the 10th anniversary of the opening of the ASEAN Center that took a look back at the last 10 years of the center. Originally established in 2006 as the Bangkok Center for Education and Research, it was renamed to the ASEAN Center in April 2014 in order to expand its activities. The Osaka University Thailand Alumni Association was also founded in 2006 and holds an alumni reunion every year.

  Later, a game session was held which really livened up the venue, and participants enjoyed friendly conversation.
