As you may have seen in newspaper reports, MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome) has emerged in the Middle East, Korea, and China.
Those staying in or planning to travel to regions with confirmed cases of infection are encouraged to gather the latest information from the homepages of the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in the area and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Overseas Safety Homepage, in addition to paying close attention to the points listed below.

Follow these steps when traveling

  • Wash your hands and gargle frequently
  • Wear a mask
  • Avoid contact with those showing symptoms such as coughing or sneezing
  • If you show symptoms such as a high fever, cough, or trouble breathing, please seek medical attention

In addition, to all faculty, staff, and students, please watch Osaka University's homepage as well as KOAN for the latest information from the university, and make sure that you are able to receive phone calls at a moment's notice.
