Seminar held featuring Dr. Kawata, Director, The Promotion and Mutual Aid Corporation for Private Schools of Japan

On Wednesday, July 16, a seminar and meeting for the exchange of opinions among trustees and deans was held at the Osaka University's Convention Center. In the seminar, KAWATA Teiichi, Director, The Promotion and Mutual Aid Corporation for Private Schools of Japan, talked about the current situation of higher education in Japan and university governance reform based on his experience as the president of Kansai University and a member of the Central Council for Education. Following his speech, participants exchanged opinions on a variety of topics. Concerning strategy for the university's image, Dr. Kawata said, "Because it's not located in the Tokyo metropolitan district, Osaka University needs to demonstrate more confidence in being in Osaka and more aggressively promote its Osaka traits." Department heads and young staff members also voiced their opinions, making for a very successful seminar and opinion exchange session.
