Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič delivers speech

On his first official visit to Japan, Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič delivered a speech at Osaka University on Friday, June 29. Approximately 300 people, including Osaka University faculty and staff and students from member universities of the EU Institute in Japan, Kansai --Osaka University, Kobe University, and Kwansei Gakuin University-- in attendance.

President Ivan Gašparovič delivered a speech entitled " Slovakia in Europe -- Responsible Society and Sustainable Growth " in Slovak. His speech was followed by a lively question and answer session with students.

The day ended on a high note with KAWASAKI Mana, a first year student of the School of Law, presenting President Gašparovič with a stuffed toy version of the Machikane alligator, Osaka University's mascot.
