Rolling Blackouts and possible Effects on University Classes

The details of possible rolling blackouts in areas serviced by Kansai Electric Power Company (KEPCO) were publicized on the KEPCO website on June 22, 2012.

When and if rolling blackouts are implemented, the decision as to whether classes will be held or not will vary by school. Information as to whether classes are cancelled or not will be posted on bulletin boards at each faculty/graduate school, at Student Centers, and on the KOAN bulletin board. Students are requested to regularly check for such postings.

Regional sub groups for rolling blackouts at Osaka University :

  • Suita campus -- Rolling blackouts will not be implemented.
  • Toyonaka campus -- 1-A
  • Minoh campus -- 5-E

As noted above, rolling blackouts will not be implemented on the Suita Campus; however, if key facilities for a network are on the Toyonaka or Minoh campuses, certain classes may be affected. As noted above, the monthly plans and group plans for potential rolling blackout and whether such blackouts will be implemented can be checked by going here .
