Summer Festival held at Osaka University

On Saturday, July 9, Osaka University's "Summer Festival" was held on the Minoh campus. The Summer Festival was the second festival held this year, the 80th anniversary of Osaka University. Originally the Summer Festival of the former Osaka University of Foreign Studies, this year marked the 32nd time this festival has been held.

This year's theme was the "3 C's" ( C ampus, C ountry, C ommunity), a theme designed with intention of deepening the festival's relationship to the local community through a variety of colorful international projects and charity projects for lending in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake.

At the opening ceremony, President Washida said, "The high level of communication that students of the School of Foreign Studies display in communication with others is an excellent stimulus for students of our other schools. It is my hope that you will continue to provide us with such inspiration."

Despite the heat, various events in the day and an Obon Dance in the evening continued without cooling.

Osaka University thanks all those who attended this festival, making it a great success.
