Commemorative Presentation on author SHIBA Ryotaro

On Sunday, July 3, under the joint sponsorship of Osaka University, the Sankei Shimbun and Kansai 2100 Committee, a commemorative lecture presentation was held at the Sankei Hall Breeze in Kita-ku, Osaka.

The commemorative lectures and talks celebrated the life and works of SHIBA Ryotaro, an alumnus of Osaka University and a Japanese author known for his novels about historical events in Japan and essays on Japan and Japan's relationship to the world, as part of the 80th Anniversary celebrations of Osaka University.

YANAGIDA Toshio, Specially Appointed Professor, Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences, and YAMAORI Tetsuo, former director of the International Research Center for Japanese Studies and religion scholar, delivered lectures and talked on the theme of "This World, the Other World, and Beyond."

Osaka University gratefully acknowledges the attendance of some 900 at this commemorative presentation.
