Ceremony held for Extracurricular Activities President's Awards and the Six Awards for Athletic Meets
A ceremony was held for the 12th Extracurricular Activities President's Awards and the 2010~2011 Six Awards for Athletic Meets on the main stage on the Toyonaka Campus on Monday, May 2, during the Icho Festival.
The weather was perfect on the day. The ceremony was held in a festive mood and members of winning groups and many other students were in attendance.
The Six Awards for Athletic Meets were established in order to encourage sports-related clubs and their members at Osaka University and to help reinvigorate student extracurricular activities. The Osaka University Sports Union has designated the following awards to be awarded at this ceremony.

Akahori Award
: for the year's best club
- President's Award : for the most valuable player
- Kamahora Award : for the club conducting the most unique activities
- Kumagai Award : for the most valuable female club or athlete
- Yamamura Award : for the club that achieved the best performance in the Seven Universities Meets and, in particular, the club that rose the most in its rankings from the previous year.
- Miyahara Awards : for all clubs that won one of the championships in a Seven Universities Meet
The
Extracurricular Activities
President's Awards
were
established for the purpose of recognizing outstanding extracurricular
activities during the previous year and in order to help reinvigorate student extracurricular activities. Nominations for this year's winners were
sought from all extracurricular groups, including official and
unofficial sports-oriented clubs and culture-oriented clubs.
Twenty nominations were received this year. The Student Life Committee, based on activity reports from the clubs making these nominations, made the selections.
