Announcement regarding 2020-21 Annual Physical Examinations for all OU Students except new undergraduate students

[Important announcement (1)] The annual spring physical examinations will only consist of an online medical interview.

In order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, all other portions of the physical examinations (urine test, height/weight/vision measurements, and the in-person medical interview) will not be held. Students will not be required to visit a Health Center for their physical examinations, so please refrain from any unnecessary visits to Health Centers at this time. However, those students to whom announcement (2) below applies must receive a chest x-ray.

[Important announcement (2)] Chest x-rays will be performed only on applicable students.

Students on the "List of students who require a chest x-ray" below must receive a chest x-ray at a Health Center. Please visit a Health Center after you have completed your online medical interview and after you have perused the points of caution listed in the Instructions for Annual Medical Checkup for Students below.

List of students who require a chest x-ray

• First year graduate school students, transfer students who are in their first year, and students who will enter the Center for Japanese Language and Culture this spring

• First year graduate students

• First year law school students (Osaka University School of Law)

• First year students in the 5-year PHD program of the Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences

• Transfer students (undergraduate and graduate) in their first year

• Students who will enter the Center for Japanese Language and Culture this spring

• Students who are required to undergo an internship at a medical institution in the 2020-21 academic year

• Students and researchers who will work at an Osaka University hospital during the 2020-21 academic year

• Any student who was instructed to undergo a follow-up examination during a physical examination taken during the 2019-20 academic year

Any prospective trainees on teaching/care practice to which the above does not apply, as well as non-regular students (auditors, special auditors, special research students, research students, and credited auditors) are not required to receive a chest x-ray.

Note: Those who received their annual physical examination in the fall term of the 2019-20 academic year must also receive a physical examination during the 2020-21 Annual Physical Examination this spring.

The examination includes:

(1) Online medical interview (Individuals who will not receive a chest x-ray do not need to visit a health center.) 

(2) Chest X-ray (for eligible students only)

Regarding chest x-rays

Those students who require chest x-rays should visit a Health Center after submitting your completed online medical interview.

Chest x-ray dates, times, and locations

1) HACC Toyonaka - Thursday, April 9~Tuesday, April 14, 10:00~15:00 (excludes Saturday and Sunday)

2) HACC Minoh - Thursday, April 16~Friday, April 17 (4/16: 10:00~15:00, 4/17: 10:00~12:00)

3) HACC Suita - Monday, April 20~Monday, April 27, 10:00~15:00 (excludes Saturday and Sunday)

You must bring the following with you to your chest x-ray:

  1. Student ID card
  2. A plain t-shirt to be worn during your x-ray, hair clip
