Guidelines for Support for the Next Generation

Due to a falling birth rate in Japan, there is fear that the low birthrate will seriously affect our nation's economy. Difficulty in balancing work and child-rearing has been pointed out as one of the causes of the declining birthrate. In order to promote a balance between work and child-rearing, private companies are urged to implement measures so that all workers, even male employees, can approach their work duties more flexibly, balancing work and their private life. In response to such a trend, Osaka University has established Osaka University Business Owner Action Plan and is introducing programs based on the plan.

Moreover, Osaka University has prepared Guidelines for Support for the Next Generation for faculty and staff in order to make them aware of facilities they or their spouse can make use of during pregnancy, childbirth, and when raising a small child(ren). The university hopes all staff will make use of such.
