国際交流助成

◆応募資格

• ① 日本国籍保有者、または永住者で、留学出立年度末に38歳以下の者。
• ② 医師資格（MD）を有し、かつ博士号（PhD）を保有するまたはPhD取得を目指す大学院博士課程在籍者。
• ③ 国内在住で、2年以上の留学を受け入れる海外の学術研究機関が内定している者。
• ④ 募集する留学出立年度内（4月1日～翌年3月31日）に海外に出立できる者。
• ⑤ 所属大学、病院など、所属する機関長からの推薦を受けられる者（但し、PhD未取得者は在籍する大学院研究科長の推薦が必須）。 推薦者の推薦は1名限り。
• ⑥ 留学中の年間収入が本奨学金を除いて600万円以下の者。

◆助成概要

• ① 海外渡航費往復60万円と、滞在費年600万円を4年間助成する。
• ② 留学1年半経過後に3年目以降の支援継続可否を再審査する。
• ③ 毎年新たに10件を助成対象とする。

◆申請と選考

• ① 誓約書、履歴書、健康に関する申告書、所属機関長からの推薦を含む申請書、
• ② 海外学術研究機関の受入承諾書、
• ③ 本人の業績リスト、あれば代表論文1報、
• ④ 海外留学中の研究実施計画、
• ⑤「海外研究留学を通じて、どのように自分を高めて社会に貢献したいか」の信条書、
• ⑥ 語学能力の証明書写し（TOEIC/TOEFL/英検 等）、

 などの書類を基に、選考委員会で選考し、理事長が決定する。

*Overseas research support

1.Outline

1) In response to the declining number of physicians pursuing overseas study in the medical field, this scholarship provides financial support to encourage international academic engagement.

2) This scholarship supports medical doctors (MD) who either hold a PhD or are early-career researchers pursuing a PhD, and who wish to conduct research abroad.

3) The selection process considers various aspects, including research achievements, personal beliefs, and research plans during the study abroad period.

4) This scholarship provides long-term support for four years.

2. Application period: Monday, 25 August 2025 to Friday, 19 September 2025

3.Number of scholarships:10

4. Eligibility

1: Applicants must be Japanese nationals or permanent residents of Japan.

2: Applicants must be 38 years old or younger when they depart from Japan for study abroad.

3: Applicants must hold MD (Doctor of Medicine)

In addition, applicants must have already obtained a doctoral degree or be currently enrolled in a doctoral program and expected to receive their degree.

4: Applicants must reside in Japan and have secured official acceptance from an overseas academic or research institution for a program of study or research lasting more than two years. 

5: Applicants are required to submit a recommendation; recommenders include deans or directors of the applicant’s graduate school or research institution.

* Applicants who have not yet obtained a PhD must be recommended by the Dean of their graduate school.

Only one application may be submitted under the name of the same recommender.

6: Only individuals whose annual income, excluding this scholarship, remains below 6 million yen during their overseas research stay are eligible to apply.

Notes

1: After 18 months of overseas study, the eligibility for continued support beyond the third year will be re-evaluated.

2: Each year, funding will be awarded to ten newly selected individuals.

Allocation

1: This foundation allocates 600,000 yen for travel expenses (return ticket）, and 6 million yen per year for living expenses for 4 years. 

Application process:

Awardees are selected based on the following documents at the selection committee, and finally approved by the chairman of the foundation.

1: A pledge, a curriculum vitae (CV), a health declaration, and an endorsement from the head of their affiliated institution. For more information, please refer to the below URL.

2: A letter of acceptance from the host institution

3: A summary of the applicant’s research accomplishments, accompanied by representative thesis, if available

4: A research plan for the period of overseas research

5: A statement describing how they intend to grow personally and contribute to society through their overseas research experience

6: A copy of a language proficiency certificate (e.g.: TOEIC, TOEFL, EIKEN, etc.)
