国際交流助成

◆応募資格

• 1) 創薬並びに生命科学に関する基礎あるいは応用研究を行うために、以下の所定の期間（助成を開始後）に1年以上、海外の研究機関で研究を行うことが内定している方。
• 2) 申請時に海外の研究機関において研究を行っている方。
• 3) 博士号を取得している研究者で原則、申請時に35歳以下の方
• 　 ※出産・育児等ライフイベントを考慮
• 4) 日本在住の経験があり、日本の創薬・生命科学研究に貢献できる方
• 5) 2026年4月から2027年3月までに助成を開始でき、かつ助成を開始してから1年以上研究を継続することが内定している方。
• 6) 本財団が定める以下の研究テーマのいずれかに関する研究に従事できる方
• 7) 留学先研究機関の責任者または受入研究室の責任者の承諾を得ている方。受入先承諾書（レターヘッド付き書面にて受入先責任者のサインがあるもの）を提出できる方
• 8) 原則、営利企業に属していない方、及び研究テーマが商業目的ではない方。
• ◆研究テーマ
• (1) 生命科学研究：日本人の死因が高位である、がん、循環器疾患、老衰、呼吸器疾患、認知症などの領域を中心として、その病態バイオロジーの解明に関する研究など
• (2) 創薬基盤研究：革新的創薬に必要な基幹技術(有機化学合成、スクリーニング技術、AI 創薬、マイクロバイオーム創薬などの新規技術を含む)に関する研究など
• (3) 創薬応用研究：基礎から臨床に至るトランスレーショナルな研究や薬物の作用機序や動態を研究し、革新的治療法を確立することに関する研究など。
• ◆助成金額：滞在費 450 万円／年（復路航空チケット代は別途支給）
• ◆助成期間：原則として 1 年以上、最長 2 年間
• ◆助成件数：2件程度
• ◆募集期間：令和 7 年（2025 年）11 月 1 日～12 月 15 日

◆海外学術研究機関の「受入承諾書」に関する注意事項

受入先研究機関のレターヘッドのある、留学先受入研究者（PI）から申請者宛ての 受入承諾書をアップロードしてください。以下の項目が記載されていることを確認してください。

ⅰ. 留学受入期間（年月日）

ⅱ. 受入先でのポジション

ⅲ. 受入先研究機関からの給与支給有無、有る場合には金額

ⅳ. 留学先受入研究者のサイン

※受入期間について、受入承諾書には受入研究機関の規定等により、「留学期間 1年間」に記載が制限されている場合において（すなわち留学期間 2 年間と記載できな い場合）、2年目の助成金の受領が内定していれば留学期間の延長が認められる場合には、

その旨を申請フォームの「その他」欄に記載したうえで、申請時に「留学期間」、「希望する助成期間」ともに 2 年の期間で申請することは可能です。

Grant B for Overseas Research

 (For Those Currently Conducting Research Overseas)

FY 2025 Application Guidelines

 1. Outline

This program promotes overseas research by providing financial support for young researchers conducting fundamental or applied research in drug discovery and life sciences at overseas universities or research institutes. The Grant B for Overseas Research is intended for those who are already conducting research overseas and offers financial support to continue their research for up to two years.

2. Eligibility

ⅰ. Those who have been accepted to conduct research for one year or longer at an overseas research institute during the specified period below, after the start of the grant, for the purpose of engaging in fundamental or applied research in drug discovery and life sciences.

ⅱ. Those who are conducting research at an overseas research institute at the time of application.

ⅲ. Those who have obtained a Ph.D. and are, in principle, under 35 years of age at the time of application, taking into account significant life events such as childbearing and caregiving responsibilities.

ⅳ. Those who have experience residing in Japan and are able to contribute to research in drug discovery and life sciences in Japan.

ⅴ. Applicants must be able to accept the grant between April 2026 and March 2027 and must have provisional acceptance from a host institution to continue their research for one year or longer after the start of the grant.

ⅵ. Those who are able to engage in research related to one of the themes specified by the Chugai Foundation.

vii. Applicants must have approval from the head of the host research institute or laboratory, and submit a letter of acceptance signed by the head of the host institution on official letterhead.

ⅷ. In principle, applicants who are not affiliated with for-profit organizations and whose research themes are not intended for commercial purposes.

3. Research Themes

i. Research themes focused on elucidating the pathology and biology of diseases that are leading causes of mortality among Japanese individuals, such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, senescence, respiratory diseases, and dementia.

ii. Research on core technologies essential for innovative drug discovery, including new approaches such as organic synthesis, screening technologies, AI-driven drug discovery, and microbiome-based drug discovery.

iii. Research ranging from fundamental to clinical translational studies, including investigations into the mechanisms of drug action and pharmacokinetics, aimed at establishing innovative therapies.

4. Grant Amount: Within ￥4,500,000 per year. The expense of round-trip airfare will be provided separately.

1. Regarding Letters of Acceptance

The letter of acceptance must be signed by the host researcher (PI) on official letterhead of the host institution and must include the following four items:

i. Period of acceptance (year/month/day)

ii. Position at the host institution

iii. Whether the salary is paid by the host research institution, and if so, the amount

iv. Signature of the host researcher

*Regarding the period of acceptance, if the letter of acceptance issued by the host research institution, in accordance with its internal regulations, limits the stated study period to one year (i.e., it cannot indicate a two-year period), applicants who have been granted provisional approval for a second year of funding may apply for a two-year period. In such cases, applicants should specify this in the “Other” section of the application form and submit both the “Period of Study” and the “Requested Grant Period” as two years at the time of application.
