1.個人A

研究者個人が海外の研究機関を拠点として１か月 ～６か月未満の期間、研究活動を行うための滞在 費・渡航費・研究費等、

または、研究拠点を海外の研究機関に移すための準備・スタートアップ資金を援助 します。

援助額は 100 万円/件を上限とします。

2.個人B

研究者個人が海外の研究機関を拠点として６か月 ～１年間、研究活動を行うための滞在費・渡航費・研 究費等を援助します。

援助額は 200 万円/件を上限とします。

3.グループ

国内の研究グループが共同研究のために、海外研 究機関に滞在して 1 か月～1 年間研究活動を行うの に必要な滞在費・渡航費・研究費等を援助します。

援助額は 100 万円もしくは 200 万円/件を上限とし ます。

また、研究期間は最長２年間とします。

Outline

The purpose of the Foundation is to support and promote basic research in the natural sciences, thereby contributing to the advancement and development of scientific research in Japan and the welfare of mankind. To achieve this objective, the Foundation provides grants for research in various fields of natural sciences.

This program supports early- and mid-career researchers conducting joint research in the basic natural sciences and other research initiatives they have persistently pursued, as well as joint projects that challenge existing concepts in their fields.

Eligible researchers are expected to spend a fixed period (from one month to one year) at overseas universities or research institutions. In addition, the program promotes international exchange between Japanese researchers exploring new research directions and overseas research institutions interested in their work.

1. Eligibility

i.   Applicants must be Japanese nationals or affiliated with an institute in Japan.

ii.  Research groups must be led by the above researchers.

iii. The overseas host institution or the applicant’s affiliated institution in Japan must take responsibility for risk management during the applicant’s overseas stay.

1. Application Categories

i.  Individuals A: This grant provides financial support, including living, travel, and research expenses, for individual researchers conducting research activities at an overseas institution for a period of one month up to six months.
Alternatively, the grant offers support for preparation and start-up funds to relocate the research base to overseas institutions.
Grant amount: Up to ¥1,000,000 per applicant

ii.  Individuals B: This grant provides financial support, including living, travel, and research expenses, for individual researchers conducting research activities at an overseas institution for a period of six months up to twelve months.
Grant amount: Up to ¥2,000,000 per applicant

 iii.   Group: This grant provides financial support, including living, travel, and research expenses, for research groups conducting research activities at an overseas institution for a period of one month up to twelve months.
Grant amount: ¥1,000,000 or ¥2,000,000 per group
The grant period is for up to two years.

1. Number of Grants: Approximately 10, regardless of whether the applicants are individuals or groups.
   At least two grants will be given to female applicants or groups.

i.   Application form

ii.  Letter of acceptance from an overseas host institution.

iii.  Letter of recommendation: Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from their supervisor or director.

In the case that the applicant is the principal investigator, a letter of recommendation is not required.
