(comparison with proportion of newly enrolled university students nationwide)
High school location rankings by prefecture
UNIT : Students
Students enrolling at Osaka University come primarily from the Kinki region.
When you examine the distribution of students who enrolled in 2014, it becomes clear that a large proportion of them come from the Kinki region, with the largest number coming from Osaka Prefecture. Only 66 students from Tokyo, which has the largest number of students enrolling in universities of any area in Japan, continued their studies at Osaka University. Freshmen at the University are distinguished by the fact that their high schools are located in and around Osaka, with more coming from the west than the east.
Where new students come from hasn’t changed in 10 years.
The following graphs compare the distribution of new students’ home prefectures today and 10 years ago. It is clear that the distribution of their home prefectures has changed little over the last 10 years.
*Does not include students admitted to the former Osaka University of Foreign Studies.
