[For OU Personnel] Tableau (Data Visualization Tool) Explanation Session (1/19 & 1/20)

Looking at University Data on Tableau

- Use of Data for Improvement of Departmental Education and Research Activity -

In recent years, IR activity has grown in importance as policy toward further improvement and enhancement of university administration. IR activity contributes to the improvement of education, research, management, and operation activities at the university through visualization of university information, and the promotion of activity of not only the university as a whole, but also each department, is considered very important.

So, in order to support this activity, preparations are being made to use Tableau, a data visualization tool, to more easily make use of university data.

This seminar is intended to instruct OU faculty and staff on how to use Tableau itself and how to make use of data.

1. Content

• Learn how to reference internal university data that one wants to see using Tableau

• Learn how to easily compare data by year, school, and department using Tableau

• Experience utilizing data for planning purposes

(3) Looking at Internal University Data through Tableau

Using Tableau to See Data from Your Department

(4) Utilizing Internal University Data for Planning

Experience How to Utilize Data in Planning while Using Data from Your Department

•Faculty and staff involved in education affairs, management, and planning

•Faculty and staff interested in IR or those involved in related work

*Attendees may attend either session.

5. Important points

•You will actually be using Tableau. Please bring a notebook PC or tablet that can use ODINS wireless LAN.

•Accounts will be handed out on the day of the seminar.
