We will be holding a Science Café over the course of 3 sessions entitled "Biocafé in Osaka." Our aim is to deepen understanding of the general public on the development of the most cutting-edge breeding technology (gene recombination technology, genome editing, etc.) being carried out in the agricultural field.
Professor MURANAKA the Graduate School of Engineering at Osaka University, along with 2 other lecturers, will talk about genetically modified food, genome editing, and the potential power of plants.
Attendance is free. Free tea and biscuits are included.

Outline of the Science Café

As part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan's "2016 Commissioned Projects for Strengthening Outreach Activity for Accelerating Commercialization of Advanced Technology in Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries," and with the aim of deepening understanding of the general public on the development of the most cutting-edge breeding technology (gene recombination technology, genome editing, etc.) being carried out in the agricultural field, we hold a Science Cafés, seminars, and workshops.

This project will be carried out under contract with Mitsubishi Chemical Techno-Research Corporation. Co-hosted by Life & Bio plaza 21 and Mitsubishi Chemical Techno-Research Corporation and with cooperation from Next-Generation Plant Biology in the Society of Biotechnology, Japan, the Science Café will be held over the course of 3 sessions entitled "Biocafé in Osaka." More information on each session can be found below. These sessions are free to attend, and tea and biscuits will be provided.
