Entrepreneurship Speaker Series
Giving Form to Ideas

YAGI Takanori
Chief, HUIS Project、New Project Creation Division, New Project Platform, Sony Corporation

Date and Time:

Monday, December 19, 2016 - 18:00 ~ 19:30

Seminar Room D, 2F, General Education Building, Toyonaka campus, Osaka University

Lecture Overview:

Even if you have an idea, making it a reality is difficult. I'll talk about my own experiences on how I chose the corporation in order to realize the ideas I had as a student, and what I did after that. I'd like to touch on how I gave form to ideas in the process, and how the ideas of young people are seen in large corporations. I hope it will prove useful to those of you who have something that you want to realize.

About the Speaker:

YAGI Takanori graduated from the Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University, in 2013, and in the same year, he joined the Television Project Division at Sony Corporation. While involved with product design of televisions, he also put a lot of energy into a bottom-up idea contest within the division. In the summer of 2014, his second year with Sony, he passed the first audition for the New Project Creation Project "Seed Acceleration Program" ("SAP"), and in November of that same year, he began his in-house start-up project "HUIS" in the New Project Creation Division. In July 2015, a crowdfunding campaign was started in First Flight for HUIS's first product, the multi-remote HUIS Remote Controller, and with 25 million yen from some 1,000 backers, the product was realized, with sales beginning in April 2016. HUIS stands for "Home User InterfaceS," with a vision of "improving living through evolving the user interface of the home."
