103rd Kita Tenma Science Café - "Shining Silk: Industrial Uses of Gene Recombination"

2016-12-18 (Sun) 14:00 - 16:00

The thread that is spun from the cocoons of silkworms is a traditional industry of Japan. If you look at the silkworm as manufacturing equipment for producing proteins (silk), then it's possible to efficiently produce proteins for various things, such as medical products designed by genetic recombination technology, by using silkworms. We've invited TOMITA Shuichiro (National Agriculture and Food Research Organization) to introduce to us the latest developments in this field. Attendance is free, and prior registration is not required.
