After serving as a researcher at Santa Clara University (USA), a professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Kobe University, a professor at the School of Engineering, Osaka University, and as vice president at Osaka University, Assoc. Prof. Ikeda currently serves as Senior Research Manager, Specially Appointed Professor (full-time), and Vice Director at the Office of Management and Planning, Osaka University.

With a multitude of achievements in the field of engineering, Associate Professor IKEDA has been given honors such as IEEE Life Fellow, IFAC Fellow, and The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Fellow. He has instructed young researchers on how to write and correct scientific papers in addition to serving in an instructor role at the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineering's "Thesis Juku." Also, Assoc. Prof. IKEDA has served in a variety of positions, such as Editor in Chief of SICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration, and Associate Editor and Reviewer of a number of journals in Japan, the USA, and Europe.

Content:

  • Explanation of the basics of writing a scientific article that is easily accepted, everything from deciding on a title, to explaining your research results logically, to how to appeal the validity and significance of your article

  • Explanation of important points when writing your article and answering peer review comments while showing real life examples from the instructor's own experience in posting scientific articles

  • Explanation of the point of view of a peer reviewer and ineffective ways of writing

  • This seminar will focus in the field of Engineering for students and young researchers in the fields of engineering and integrated fields (information engineering, bioengineering, medical engineering, etc.), but the information provided may be useful to those from other fields as well.
