Talk Event: Choosing Cirque du Soleil

2016-10-11 (Tue) 19:00 - 21:00

Saltimbanco. Corteo. Ovo. Have you heard of these shows before?
These are all Cirque du Soleil productions performed in Japan. What kind of people perform in this world-traveling circus? And what made them choose to join Cirque du Soleil? At this event, we'll welcome special guests from the Cirque du Soleil touring production "Totem," with performances in Japan until May 2017, to talk about backstage episodes and creative work, as well as working with the world as their field. We hope to see you there.

Talk Event - "Choosing Cirque du Soleil"

Performances of "Totem" in Osaka began in July of 2016 by Cirque du Soleil, a troupe that has raised the level of circus performances to an art form with their theatrical performances, with some 20 productions being performed worldwide. But what kind of work do these performers actually do? What is "working in a global society?" How about "taking in diversity?" What are the systems of a professional group? We've invited stage director Neelanthi Vadivel and Japanese performer MIYA Umihiko to talk with us. In part 2, Professor NAGATA Yasushi of the Graduate School of Letters, Osaka University, will take the stage to speak with us from a theatrical perspective
