Osaka University & Osaka Gas: Academic Cooking, Vol. 61 -- Make, Learn, and Eat! The Thrills of Archaeology are Delicious Three Times Over!

2016-10-23 (Sun) 10:00 - 13:00

Kaitokudo for the 21st Century and Osaka Gas have jointly been holding a series of unique lectures on certain foods followed by the cooking and eating that food. Joining us for "volume" 61 of this series of learning through cooking is Assistant Professor NAKAKUBO Tatsuo of The Office of Archaeological Heritage Management. This lecture is sure to be interesting, so don't miss out.

The earthenware that always gets dug up during excavations is very important to archaeology. By observing the shape, pattern, and structure of the earthenware, archeologists can know the period of the remains and recreate the history, culture, and daily life of ancient times. In this seminar, we'll replace the clay, which is the main ingredient in earthenware, with cookie dough, replace the tools to make this earthenware with cooking utensils, and replace our kiln with a cooking oven in order to learn some delicious facts from earthenware, all while making cookies!
