Preventative Care through Frailty Awareness

SUGIMOTO Ken
(Lecturer, Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University)

In a Japan caught in the vortex of a super-aging society, measures to keep individuals in need of nursing care from increasing has become an urgent problem. In order to find those likely to receive daily care in routine treatment and take appropriate measures, it is important to understand the concept of "frailty," or the state between a healthy state and a state which requires assistance in everyday life. I will explain the definition and causes of "frailty," as well as its relationship between diseases and prognosis, and preventative measures.
