"Ambition of Islamic State" - TAKAHASHI Kazuo (Professor, The Open University of Japan)

2016-6-21 (Tue) 10:30 - 14:30

In order to understand why Islamic State appeared and why it threatens the entire world, one must look sterically at both its current state and its history. We hope that this lecture will serve as an opportunity to understand important points such as the background and methods of a rapidly growing Islamic State, the conditions of the countries, and the reason behind Russia's intervention and why the US does not send ground troops.

After the lecture, we will hold a discussion with Professor YABUNAKA Mitoji (former Japanese Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs) and Professor Takahashi. This is a great opportunity to speak with two professors well-versed in global affairs. We will also be holding a Q&A session with participants, so we hope that you will all actively participate.

During the lunch hour, we will be holding a social gathering, so please bring a light lunch and join us.
