96th Kita Tenma Science Café - "What is genome editing? The latest on genetic engineering"

2016-5-22 (Sun) 14:00 - 16:00

CRISPR is a powerful genome editing and genetic engineering technology that is rapidly gaining popularity. While it is expected to see application in the field of medicine through treatment of gene-related illnesses, its predicted application in other industries has caused biologists to send a work of caution about the dangers of this use from a bioethics viewpoint. We've invited MASHIMO Tomoji of the Graduate School of Medicine to talk to use discuss the facts and possibilities of genome editing, as well as the role of genome editing technology.
