Lab Café Haiku Café - "OZAKI Hosai and Free-Verse Haiku"

2016-3-26 (Sat) 14:00 - 16:00

OZAKI Hosai, a haiku poet active in the early 20th century, was known for verses such as "Even when I cough, I am alone." We've invited KOYAMA Takako, an expert on OZAKI's poetry, to introduce the poet to us. OZAKI Hosai wrote works not bound to the conventional "seasonal language" and fixed form of traditional haiku poetry, choosing to write "free-verse haiku." Attendees will discover the true charm of free-verse haiku poetry.

What is Lab Café?

A major program instituted at Art Area B1, "Lab Café" is designed and implemented by the Center for the Study of Communication-Design. Lab Café is an interactive program in which participants have wide-ranging discussions on a variety of topics. The program aims to make the station a communication space in the arts and academia by taking up various themes in philosophy, art, science and technology and providing the general public with chances to be exposed to expertise on those topics.

What is Art Area B1?

The concourse of the first basement of Naniwabashi Station was set up as Art Area B1 when the Keihan Electric Railway's Nakanoshima Line was opened on October 19, 2008. Since then, the project has aimed to make the station a center of artistic communication.
