Lab Café Cafe Image -- "High Resolution Godard!"

2016-3-9 (Wed) 19:00 - 21:00

Jean-Luc Godard. World famous film director. And now quite the elderly gentleman. But the films that he makes are always stylish and fast-paced, if a bit esoteric. For this Lab Cafe Image, we've invited HIRAKURA Kei, the author of "Godard-esque Techniques" which delves into ultra-precise analysis of Godard's films, HAMAGUCHI Ryusuke, a director currently gathering a lot of attention, and JAREO Osamu, a dancer deeply connected with Mr. Hamaguchi's films, to talk about Mr. Godard. What an event!

HIRAKURA Kei (Associate Professor, Yokohama National University)

HAMAGUCHI Ryusuke (Film director)

JAREO Osamu (Dancer)

What is Lab Café?

A major program instituted at Art Area B1, "Lab Café" is designed and implemented by the Center for the Study of Communication-Design. Lab Café is an interactive program in which participants have wide-ranging discussions on a variety of topics. The program aims to make the station a communication space in the arts and academia by taking up various themes in philosophy, art, science and technology and providing the general public with chances to be exposed to expertise on those topics.

What is Art Area B1?

The concourse of the first basement of Naniwabashi Station was set up as Art Area B1 when the Keihan Electric Railway's Nakanoshima Line was opened on October 19, 2008. Since then, the project has aimed to make the station a center of artistic communication.
