Kaitokudo for the 21st Century Osaka University OSAKAN CAFE vol. 7 - "Tale of a Puppetmaster"
2016-3-19 (Sat) 13:30 - 16:00
At this 7th OSAKAN CAFE, we'll unwrap the world of Japan's ningyo-joruri and Asia's puppet theater from the perspective of the puppet master. Not only will we have explanations with photos, but we will also be holding a workshop with a professional bunraku (ningyo-joruri) puppet master! Please feel free to join us!
Why puppets and not people?
Why do they have even more human expressions than people themselves?
Why do 3 people control the puppet?
Why does training take decades?
We'll look for the answers to these types of questions.
We hope you experience "Bunraku Puppetry" to the fullest in this workshop with a bunraku puppet master.
