The 6th MEI3 Center International Symposium: Medical Engineering Innovation

2016-1-18 (Mon) 09:40 - 18:35

As we face serious medical welfare issues such as an aging society, furthering the development of science technology to support advanced medical care and converting the axis of industry to contribute to an advanced welfare society will not only answer the societal needs for Japan, but will also improve international competition in industry, making this a burning issue.

Osaka University has traditionally left many achievements in collaborative research between medicine and engineering with regards to these challenges. Based on this tradition, the Osaka University Center for Advanced Medical Engineering and Informatics was established in 2005, after which medical engineering and informatics education and research have been carried out through the 21st Century COE, Global COE, Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology Core-to-Core Program, and Translational Research Network Program.

Last year, the name of the center was changed to the Global Center for Medical Engineering and Informatics, with the center placing more emphasis on international development. At this symposium, our primary goal is to get a grasp on research and development trends in advanced medical equipment in the Asia/Oceania region, while simultaneously holding a discussion focused on international network creation as a Top Global University.
