Globalization of the Unvieristy and Risk Management for Students Studying Overseas - Protecting Student and University

2016-1-27 (Wed) 13:30 - 16:30

In recent years, the cultivation of global human resources in university education has been promoted, and there are many programs for students to travel overseas to study and train, but among those responsible for these programs, there are many who feel uneasy about the risk management system for these overseas programs. At the Fieldwork, Internship and Experiential Learning Design Office (FIELDO) at the Osaka University Global Collaboration Center (GLOCOL), some 400 students have been sent overseas through Fieldwork, Internship and Experiential Learning Programs since 2010.

Additionally, since the start of these programs, we have been placing efforts into risk management for students overseas, and in the 2014-2015 academic year, we received a grant-in-aid from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science ("Budding Challenge Research"), through which we surveyed students from universities throughout Japan on risk management, advancing our research on risk management for students traveling overseas (prevention and countermeasures). At this symposium, we will report our analyses of these surveys on risk management, as well as work together in groups to create risk management action plans, all while discussing better risk management for students studying overseas in the future.
