Lab Café Special for Railway Arts Festival - "Secrets of the Camera 2015"

2015-12-9 (Wed) 19:00 - 21:00

For this Railway Arts Festival, a camera obscura, the technology that made of the foundation of the camera we know today, was given to Kozenji Station by HOMMA Takashi. It has been many years from this fundamental discovery, allowing us to hold a tiny piece of equipment known as a camera and freely record our surrounding. What makes cameras of the past different from cameras of today, and in what way? What are the latest optical techniques? At this café, we'll take a look at current camera technology and the expressions that make this technology possible, while holding discussions with our invited guests.

What is Lab Café?

A major program instituted at Art Area B1, "Lab Café" is designed and implemented by the Center for the Study of Communication-Design. Lab Café is an interactive program in which participants have wide-ranging discussions on a variety of topics. The program aims to make the station a communication space in the arts and academia by taking up various themes in philosophy, art, science and technology and providing the general public with chances to be exposed to expertise on those topics.
