Commemorative Symposium for the 31st International Prize for Biology

Osaka University, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and Tokyo Institute of Technology will hold the Commemorative Symposium for the 31st International Prize for Biology on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6.

This symposium has invited researchers who are leading the world in the field of cellular biology, the field of study commended by this year's prize, from inside and outside of Japan. A poster session will also be held so that many young researchers can present their achievements. There is a limit to the number of presentations to be accepted, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. No fee is charged to persons participating in this symposium and those applying for poster presentations. We look forward to welcoming many of you.

Commemorative Symposium for the 31st International Prize for Biology  -- "New horizons in life science through advances in cell biology"

1. Purposes

Individuals including winners of the International Prize for Biology will participate in a symposium and lectures to talk about achievements in the field of biology commended by the prize in order to exchange information about research and promote friendships among researchers so that this event will lead to the improvement of quality of research in Japan and the world as well as contribute to international academic exchange.

 

International Prize for Biology

The International Prize for Biology was established in order to commemorate the 60th year of the Emperor Showa's ascension to the throne and his research on biology over the years as well as long-term research on fish taxonomy by the current Emperor who has contributed to the development of the prize. Each year, one of the fields of biology is selected and the award is given to a researcher who achieved outstanding results in that field of biology and made a great contribution to scholarship in the world.
